I stumbled into some used grippers for a good price. The skis on my 01 zr800, that someone before me turned into their approximation of a mountain cat, are nearly worn off thanks to the previous owner. Wondering if anyone has done this swap before me and could save me some brain cells.
Upon some examination it looks like I need to use the spindle hardware off the cat, put the spacer on the outside of the spindle (in order to align rubber with spindle and ski) and buy a longer bolt since the cat bolt is too short. Then drill out the two poo ski bushings to cat bolt diameter and trim the poo rubber and possibly shim it to fit.
Any suggestions or other ways doing it better would be much appreciated. Suggestions for an alternative to the poo rubber would also be very helpful. Thanks!
