Polaris fuel pump question

C

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
I bought a 93 polaris 440 race sled and i am fixing it up to sell. Anywho i cleaned the carbs and everything else, go to start the sled and get no fuel. Fuel filter is clean, fuel dumps out everywhere before the pump. Crank case hose is hooked up. I can run the engine off starting fluid or by dumping fuel down the airbox.

So, fuel pump is out.. Ok cool. Well here is the question, i have a totaled 96 XLT 600 in my back yard. Can i use the fuel pump from that sled and just block off one of the fuel lines?

fuel pump.

Yep. All 3 lines feed from a central cavity. Most old twin pumps can be made a triple by drilling and adding another brass fitting. Arrows on the pump housing show flow in and out.

Before you change out the pump try this.

Take a small funnel that fits into the 1/4" fuel line.

Disconnect the fuel line from one of the carbs and put some fuel into it.

Essentially priming the pump from the outlet side.

See if that doesn't get the pump working again

thanks kraven, i will try it. It is easier said than done, its so cold out i dunno if i could find my balls if i tried. :face-icon-small-sho

DING DING DING we have a winner! thanks alot man! that worked like a charm and only took like 30 seconds to try. Setting up the funnel and then figureing out what to do with all the fuel in hte funnel was my biggest problem.

Thanks a million! learn something new every day!:face-icon-small-hap
