polaris bb twin ignition questions

Can I use a ducati ignition from a '98 700 rmk on a '00 800 rmk? The '00 700 and 800 use the same stator and flywheel, just the cdi's are a different part #, I'm assuming due to different timing curves. Could I use the '00 800 stator, flywheel and the one piece cdi/coils from a '98 700 ducati ignition? or use the entire ducati ignition from the '98 700 on the '00 800? I'm currently running a '98 440 xcr cdi/coil on my '98 770 big bore because of the timing curve, would this cdi work on a '00 800? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Well yes and no. The differences are the timing curve and the addition of the TPS on the 800.

But the base components are the same (stator, flywheel, coils).

What I would like to do is swap out my 770 with a non ves 800 and keep the whole thing looking as stock as possible. I'm going to run a '98 stator housing to use the stock hoses/cooling bottle. I'm running mikunis on my 770 right now so if I did run the 800 ignition I can plug in the tps, I would rather not have to use the seperate cdi and coils from the 800 just to avoid having to hang the 800 cdi somewhere. Would the timing curve from a '98 xcr 440 work on a non ves 800? The cylinders I will be using are ported by Doug Ruth with slp race twins and an slp cheater head for 3000' to 6000' with twins. Thanks for the reply.

I don't know about the timing curves... they used to publish them in the race manuals, maybe you could track them down.
