polaris assualt suggestions

Is it worth buying an assualt whats the word on them. Are they worth the money? what should i be lookin for? know that theres some updates not sure what they are. Any will help. Thanks

awesome if you are more from the flatland and head out west once or twice a year. not as good if you live out west, you would be better off getting the dragon because of the track.
unless you want to get a challenger extreme 146 or a 144 and switch the drivers right away for the assault, the dragon would be the better mountain sled.

Let me tell you what I ride a 09 Assault done with port and polish, single slp pipe, v force reeds, air horn and a lot of vents and I love it....I have ridden all sorts of snow coditions and I have NEVER EVER had a problem with my assault. I can go anywhere at any time same as the dragons. It is all about your riding style my friend. Here in Reno NV we just got a storm in with about 8 ft of new powder and I never ever had a problem with the track or the sled it runs like a raped ape. It is a great sled for all around riding. If you are looking to climb and that is it this is not the sled for you but if you are looking to boondock, jump climb and rip down the trail Its your dream in my OPINION.....IMG_0091.jpg

If it worked here is a pic of my sled.. Also you can go to www.teamsummit.net to look at some more pics....Hope I helped good luck.

That pretty much hits it on the head. I rode with an Assault last weekend in midium to soft based powder, very little bottom to the snow. The Assault struggled where my 153 Poo 800 was keeping up with the 162's pretty well. The regular comment is " mostly rider" but expert or not, you will be hitting the soft stuff a few more times that the longer sleds. Besides the short, trenching style track, you will have to deal with a steeper track approach and a suspension that was set up for hill banging and not deep pow riding. I personally would love to own one of these sleds for the later season riding. It fits my style of riding very well. But unfortunately, I love the sick powder days to and it seems like we have alot of soft snow.An Assault would be a great sled to have, but that is only if I had a 153 or 162 dragon sitting beside it in the garage.

There are a ton of threads already like this, go back and read those.

An Assault is a great sled, it won't carve like the Dragon but I still love mine. The dragon gus are hating their OEM track many of them changing it out. they also hate their shocks, changing them out... So with thay said, even if yo get the assault and change the shocks and track you are right where they are.

The Assault stickers are very attractive. I would suggest buying a pair and then getting an rmk 700 155 to put them on. Unless of course you are a competitive hill-climber, then an actual Assault is just what you need.

Hey J I love mine so far, it's great in the flatlands boondocking in the deep. We just got a big dump (for us) of 16" and with a pretty good wind we had spots where it was over 8' deep and I had no problem climbing those drifts and staying up top and playing there all day. I don't think it is the machine for doing 3000' pulls up the side of a mountain but for playing and jumping and just having fun it is the best at it that I have had the pleasure of riding. Enjoy it for what it is designed for and it won't let you down. And spend the money on a PC V it really wakes it up and will probably make it survive alot longer than without.
This is just my experience so far so take it for what it's worth, but I am sold on this package it absolutely F ing Rocks !!!

Buddy of mine has an 09 assault and it wasnt near the sled I thought it would be, i'm not trying to start a brand war but it will not even touch my 09 m8. Cool sled but I'm getting sick of digging it out all the time

I love my 09 Assault with 2.5 camo ext, drop and roll, timbersled rear skid with float 2's on the front!!! PCV also added......Love it!

....it only took a little work to make it right.......:face-icon-small-hap

I have two, one is set up OEM like an Assault one is more of an RMK, lighter springs, valving, approach angle.

It has a good base platform to build off of. For some the track is weak, for some the front shocks.

Here is a video of the same storm in the Mt. Shasta area. 09 Assault with intake kit only. If you are a 90% hillclimber, there are better sleds out there. For what I do, 20% trail, 30% straight up big hills, and 50% up, down, through the trees and over the hills we go, the Assault has been great. There isn't much flatland out here. 1500 miles on it, 600 this year after the update. I am not going to go on and on about this sled, but it works damn well for me. I ridden x's, but not cat's, yet.
