Polaris Assault track 09

I'm headed to Cooke City, MT in Jan. I've never been sledding outside the midwest so not sure what to expect. I have an 09 polaris assualt and I like the stock track, but have read it will trench badly out west. It trenches here in midwest. Should I replace the track with a camo extreme 2.5" or just ride stock track and focus my money on weight reduction items?

Thanks

never really had a problem with mine, it trenched a little bit more than my buddy's 09 D8 when we were in Valemount BC and Revelstoke last season; hell of a lot more fun,IMHO, on the trail headed up the mountain though...

just my 2 cents.

IMO a track is one of the best bang for your buck mods you can do... SO I loved the comp track for riding the midwest too, but I decided to get the 2.4" track for going out west. It was well worth it in my opinion. Still tons of fun to ride in the midwest and performed well out in the powder. If I could go back I would do it the same all over again. I did notice that the track dragged the motor down a bit in heavy snow but that's probably due to not having enough clearence to clear snow from the tunnel. Those 2.5" tracks get pretty tight in there with the stock drivers... It'll work, just something to keep in mind...

I put on over 1000 miles out west last year on the stock track. It does trench but after some clutching(aksnowriders) set up it was alot better. I do want to try the 2.5 camo extreme this season as i heard nothing but good things about it and the huge diff it has over the stock track. The stock track does ok but am sure the 2.5 would be the way to go. Good luck

Learning some throttle control helps with the trenching. I also found that sinching up the strap on the suspension helps it a ton. I pulled mine all the way in.
