I have a 2009 800 Dragon.

I’m reading about the 800 engine “Fix” kit that includes pistons, cylinder spacer, gaskets, etc….. Supposed to resolve pistion pistion chatter, etc...

I see a number of sellers out there with kits. Does anybody have experience with these kits and any recommendations on which one to buy?

Thanks,

Northstar out of Idaho has a kit , it rocks , call Coby

I fixed mine with a millennium technologies monoblock-2010 version and lower comp head that came with the Polaris recall and spi T-molly dual ring pistons. I sent the pistons to millennium and they fit them to the block. I have put maybe maybe 500 miles on it NA and I turboed it late winter and put on probably 100 miles with no problems. If you can do the work yourself I think it will be cheaper to go this route then to buy that kit....

X3 for the MTNTK fix kit. I have about 8 or 9 of these out there in Dragon's and Pro's. A couple with boost, the rest N/A.

If you are installing this in the 09 Dragon and it is N/A, then I would recommend a true 08-09 head. If it's turbo'd then stay with the 2010 update head.

If the 09 still has the thinner cylinder skirt monoblock, make sure there are no cracks. My personal sled was cracked after 300 miles.

There is no need to update to a 2010 monoblock on an 08-09 when you have correct fitting pistons IE: Fix Kit.

The MTNTK fix kit was the first fix kit and has a perfect track record.

There is a reason why there are so many Polaris Dealer's that are also MTNTK Fix Kit distributors.

We actually got a fax from Polaris about a month ago stating that they now endorse the MTNTK fix kit and recommend to sell that kit or install it in any sleds that we are rebuilding instead of factory polaris parts. However I do not personally have any experience with the kit. From what I've heard of them they sound good. Anybody else that works at a polaris dealer get this fax? I'm surprised it hasn't shown up on here yet. I'll try to find it and take a picture on monday.

X2- Had my dealer installed the MTNTK fix kit in my old 09 Dragon with an 08 head & fuel map. I ran it 1 season & the buyer is still running it 2 season later.

Yep...it shows alot of professionalism when you aren't making false claims endlessly about your competitors product especially when you have zero experience with your competitors product...

It also shows you are to busy with your business to engage in playground bickering.

Thanks for all the advice.

I looked at the MTNTX Fix Kit and others like the Snowmobile Performance Parts kits on E-bay (Snow X Racing Pistons) and trying to understand why I should pay $200 more + another $100 shipping!

I probably would pay the $585 for the NMNTX fix kit due to all the positive reviews but just hung up on the $100 shipping charge.

Shipping from PMSPOLARIS is only $25 in US $50 Canada

$100 is a lot for shipping, Here at PMSPOLARIS we ship out a fix kit for $25 in the USA and $50 for Canada.

The Fix kit worked for us clear back in 2009 when we had 3 customers that had blown up there engines 3-6 times. We were pulling our hair out at trying to figure out a way to help our customers out and keep them on the Snow. We put the kits in these 3 machines back in 2009. MTNTK wanted to see these sleds every 500 miles. So we had the customers bring them back and we looked over the machine, checked the pistons and how they were running. Well we are going on 2014 season and those sleds are still running strong. And the Customers have even put a few fix kits in there 2010 and 2012 sleds just because. I would like to thank MTNTK for their help in helping us keep our customers happy.
Just to let everybody know PMSPOLARIS has kits in stock and ready to go. This year MTNTK has told us that hopefully they will not have any back orders this year, they have built triple the amount of FIX KITS than they did last year.
PMSPOALRIS sells to the general public, we no longer supply Dealers with fix kits. Dealers please contact Shawn, Rob or Kris at MTNTK. http://www.mtntkperformance.com/

Hey Dave, the playground bickering, although not very useful, is still quite entertaining.... I just got done installing the MTNTK fix kit on the old man's '12 Pro today and can honestly say wow what a difference in engine sound, idle quality, throttle response, the whole bit. The engine just seems happier! The sled has 1200 all stock miles on it and all top end components looked great upon disassembly so I have no doubt the engine would have lasted well into the future, but with this kit you have that all important 'peace of mind' when you're 30 miles deep into the backcountry. So far I consider this money very well spent!
