Polaris 2012+ RMK whats the difference?

Guys:

Looking at a RMK600, 2012 or newer.

Some of the sleds I have been looking at have running boards like this:

How come they made two types of running boards. My preference is the more open design of course, but I am curious as to why? Was it a snowcheck thing or what?

The first ones are the 144 boards the seconds are 155".

Ahh, I see, but I dont either.

What difference would the skid length make on the type of boards you used?

I would want the 155" but I did not see that the first sled was a 144" (Nor did it say)

The 144 is considered a switch back model so they use the other boards. I'm not sure why never understood it but that's what polaris did.

The 144 also has a torsion spring skid vs the 155's coil over. the 144 also uses a 2.52 pitch track vs the 155's 2.86 pitch track... imo the 155 is a nicer platform all round than the 144 which seems dated to me.

The 144 has traditional footwells and switchback steering post, completly different sled from the 155. If the 144 was outfitted like a true RMK with the good boards etc. I'd be all over one.
