Pocatello Idaho to West Yellowstone, FWD car or 4WD truck?

Might be a dumb question but the weather is calling for about 8-10 inches this weekend for Island Park and West Yellowstone. I am headed there in the morning to watch the races for the weekend.

So my question is how bad do the roads get when there is a storm? Will my 2002 Intrepid, with FWD and good tires due fine? Or should I take the gas guzzling Suburban to be safe?

How often do they close the pass between Island Park and West Yellowstone?

You are good to go! Road is seldom closed, usually only because of an accident blocking road.

Just got back from there and the roads are pretty bad when you get to the top of the hill at ashton till you get to the phillips 66 at the Shotgun turn off. If its all wheel drive you should be fine just slow down. Lots of Azzhats driving way to fast up there.

Geesh guys!!

Its epic winter conditions now, No way I would drive a 2wd fwd right now on those roads, take the Burb, costs more, but isnt you safety worth it?????????????????????????????????????????:eek:

Take the MAV. (Mormon assault vehicle);). & don't listen to sldguy... Anyone who has posters of Hillary & michael moore on his bedroom ceiling can't be trusted!!!:D

What a bunch of pussies! My grandma drives the hill in an old rear wheel drive Cadillac every morning.

No doubt. . .dido that!

What you really have to watch for are the "real careful" drivers who do 30 mph at the site of the first snow flake. . .I am taking my bullet bike. . .
