Plumbing question

If I have a (new) toilet bowl - if I put water in it, without the bowl on the trap; should the bowl hold water? Or would it leak out? So just the bowl, no tank.

You fill the tank from the top not the bottom.

The bowl and connecting flume is a big "P" trap to keep the sewer gases blocked out. Yes, it should hold water.

Depending on the amount of water.
If u fill it above the 'water level', it will flush itself but the water shouldn't leak.

If I happen to go above the water level and it flushes itself, will almost all the water drain out? Or will it stop at the water level?

Depending on the speed and amount of overfill.
Slightly above and it shouldn't flush, just push some water out. U could create a half flush also.........

This thread reminds me of questions my kids ask me right before mom walks into a well built prank.... I’ve learned not to ask why, just provide helpful info.
