Plugs

How often do the PPR9EIX foul out?

When running in MN it seems I can foul them in about 50-100 miles.

But when I am in Cooke I foul out maybe once the whole trip 200-250 miles

I just run the cheap NGK plugs. Looked at the iridium but decided to stay with the original ones it came with.

I don't get how in the age of fuel injection plugs still foul out....

The EIX plugs have a screw on terminal top.. I like to use high temp red Loctite on the treads for good measure

Loctite #272

GR PLUGS

What about ngk GR9A-EG ?

I thought thats what NGK recommended?

Polaris ran that plug for one year only... and then switched back to the BR-9ES... Probably to save some nickles.

From a previous post.

AK49r... your dealer gave you some inaccurate information.

The 12's came stock with an NGK GR9A-EG plug...but still able to use on ANY Polaris with a BPR9-ES or RN57YCC which is more foul resistant than the BPR9-ES ... A bit pricier and they found that it was not needed on the sleds.

In terms of fouling:

Good BPR9-ES (Not to be confused with BR9-ES)
Better GR9A-EG (or Champion RN57YCC) ---copper core plugs
Best BPR9-EIX (not to be confused with BR9-EIX)

How you guys like them Iridiums?

Also, I have spare plugs from my 12. Are they fine to run in my 13? They got different numbers on them(cant remember) but I read somewhere the 12 plugs are more resistant to fouling.

I run the iridiums and never had any fouling problems, even when I was breaking in my SLP 777 engine on my '09 with 40:1 oil ratio in the tank and an oil pump that was adjusted to put out more oil (crude calculations have it around 40:1). I'll be switching the '14 Pro over next fall to irridiums.

In addition, one the first fire of the 777, I held the oil pump wide open, engine at idle RPM, till I saw oil pumping through the tubes. I smoked like a fiend, but didn't foul out.

FYI, I oil fouled two sets of iridiums on an 11 with a drop in kit, ~35:1 oil ratio, with Legend ZX2. Took about 300 miles each time. VES were functional, but needed to be cleaned at 1000m. No fouling with the BPR9ES. Maybe it was the oil. Just my experience.

Going to try the EIX's again on a 14 800 with VES (formerly VES Gold Plus) with the oil turned up. Don't know avg oil ratio, yet, shooting for at least 40:1. FWIW.
