plowing snow with nytro - a-arms

Is it just me, or does the front end of the nytro (a-arms) pack up with snow like a mo-fo. I was doing a bunch of spring riding yesterday, and the snow packs in there so tight that it makes steering at full lock difficult. I can clear it out but carving in the snow just packs it right back in there.

To clean it out I have to kick the snow out with my foot as it is compressed pretty good.

So, is it just me?

Has anyone else noticed this?

ya i find the same thing . I also don't like how the snow packs in under the hood and around the oiltank. Last winter the toolpack was so frozen in there i couldn't budge it. I also got the yammy skidplate and the snow packs in between the skidplate and belly that it just about pulls the bolts through.

Putting filter / screen material on the vent by the oil container, also you need to cover up the vents near the headlight, and around the headlight.

I have found that doing these things eliminates a bunch of the snow that gets into the engine compartment.

Ya i screened off the vents on the sides of the headlight and put smaller screen over the big screen on the side panel's but still get a pile of snow in the hood area. Thinking on plugging off the oiltank side solid , and trying to fill in some of the holes around the a arm mounts and bumper . Sorry to get off your topic.

The Cascade Concrete seems to pack in there pretty good. Not sure what the fix would be though. I've tried waxing the crap out of the A arms, didn't seem to make much difference.
I've noticed it on the other brands A arms as well. Trailing arm suspensions don't seem to collect as much snow. The old TSS Yamahas didn't collect hardly any snow at all, due to the "clean" front end.

I am thinking about getting a float plate and see how that works.

I get the same thing on my sled, when I notice it I take 30 seconds and knock it out with a screwdriver if its frozen. I don't think a float plate will help keep the snow out of the A-arms though, it would have to be something that blocked the front/bottom of the arms themselves...and that would be tricky because they need to be able to move.

Then again, covering the bottom wouldn't work as the snow couldn't drop out if it gathered in the arms.

We might be screwed. haha

no problem with this on my nytro. although the snow is much different here in colorado. i would try the gen 3 simmons skis before you do the float plate. the float plate is a joke just scooping and carrying massive amounts of snow

pictures of the front end with snow packed in it. Note that I have to kick it to get it removed, and once removed it will pack in really quickly and I will have to repeat the process. Fun stuff.

The problem isn't floatation, the problem is that the snow gets packed in there when carving.
