I for one would really appreciate it. The KTM300 build thread and others have a lot of helpful info, and many of us really have to peck about to read the third page and beyond.

Thank you all very much!

Seth

The membership issue has been discussed before, and I don't object to discussing it again here.

I will not buy a membership, and I want my contribution to the public snowbike knowledge to be visible to the public. I am simply asking that you also share.

I for one cannot afford to pay $15 every time I seek answers on the web.

Would you say the information is worth $15? That's like sacrificing one meal out a year.

For most members it is counter productive to spread good info in several threads, just to have a few guys and gals that cannot save 15 bucks by not drinking a beer or two or not going somewhere with the car. I can not see the logic in that. Of course the info should be in the same thread and the tiny extra cost for valuable info is litteraly nothing compared to the cost for our bikes and rides.

Just my 2 cents

Rob

i agree. there is a ton of ads on this site to more then cover the cost

I look at it the other way Robster, after spending $15k and counting on bike and kit etc. it is that much tougher to cough up more to use a forum.

For me it adds up to a lot more than $15. I use forums on snowmobiles, ATVs, street motorcycles, dirt motorcycles, trucks, fly fishing, backpacking, RVs, kayaking, GPSs, skiing, shooting, hunting, etc. etc.. It would quickly add up to hundreds a year.

I'll stick to the basic and put up with the adds. You guys with premium don't have to have the adds flashing all the time right? :face-icon-small-hap

Count me in as another who won't pay to join a forum! I belong to quite a few great forums that are free and don't have near the advertising this one has.

If I had to pay $15 for every website I join I would need another job.

I'd add this to the discussion -- TONS of advertising doesn't necessarily translate into tons of income. You can show all the advertising you want, but in general, no money is made until someone clicks on an ad and/or makes a purchase on the advertiser's site. I would guess that income generated from advertising on this site doesn't even come close to covering the operating costs. Charging membership fees probably helps quite a bit, but nobody's getting rich off this forum.

I will probably never become a premium member and I understand that there's only so much I can read on some threads because I'm cheap... I'm okay with that and I won't complain. :face-icon-small-hap

Of all the forums I belong to, this by far has the most advertisements, the only one I pay for, and the only one I get spam from Snowest in my PM box. Its not about the $15 for me. The spam and ads make me not want to contribute.

This site has definitely gone seriously for profit if they do not make any money there is something wrong with there business model.
As consumers it is up to us to decide what we want and the only vote we ever really have is with your hard earned cash.
I for one use the basic membership out of principal. I have been on here long before pay memberships and use this site to see what is new and sometimes I may be able to help someone with some info. If there are members that elect to not share there tread with basic members I guess they have the right to do that as well. At that point we all are just exercising our Rights.

Cheers…….

This forum cant come close to the operating costs of the harley forum or the adverture rider forum. Their memberships have got to be 5 times what SW has. They don't charge, you can view tens, sometimes hundreds of pages of a thread. I will never pay for the use of an internet forum, if they can't figure out how to generate enough money for operating costs and profit they are just plain lazy.... this forum was about 1000% better about 10 years ago...

REALLY???

Are you SERIOUSLY asking those who have spent the $15.00 to go out of our way, keep track of how many posts are in a thread, then start a continuation of the same topic, for you? Have you thought of how hard that would be to read, with multiple continuations? Were you an only child, cause you're sounding a little spoiled?

I for one just ignore the guys that are not willing to share there build with the rest of the forum after all it is there right --- Off to the ADV rider forum where I do not have to deal with this stuck up attitude.

theres already enough redundent posting on here, we dont need to clog it up even more by starting new threads every few posts to discuss the same stuff.

I don't like the whole pay for it either, but seriously, stop crying, this is a pay to play sport... Buy a lifetime membership and forget about it. You sound like a bunch of stubborn punks that just want to cry, not to learn.

I am willing to pay for the best most concentrated information regarding this industry that exists anywhere.
