places to stay in the big horns

In the past we have stayed at snoshoe lodge and since that place closed we stayed at the elkview. i know Bear Lodge is right there too, i think that the same place owns alot in that area and its called the hide out. anyways my question is since snoshoe has not been open it is way more expensive. I personally liked staying at snoshoe and would love to get back there. So if you have any info about snoshoe or some other good spots to stay. thanks... we come from eastern nd so thats about as far as i can stand to drive

Head further north, Bear lodge, Arrowhead, and Elk View (formally The Passage) all great places. All three owned by the same couple who live at Bear Lodge. Great People! They really put time and effort into the mountain and making it a great place for snowmobilers.

Elk view is the newest place, Bear has the "night life" and Arrowhead is the quiet place... I recommend Bear, the night life is fun to BS in the bar and share stories from the day, and if you wanna go to one of the other places they are all very close together. And good snow so far this year! If it keeps up will be great late season!

Everything is closed in the mid part of the horns so Bear and Wy. Highcountry are the only options left. Bears # is 307-752-2444 ( that will get you info for all three lodges) sorry I don't have high country's #. High country is pretty secluded and you have a 20 mile ride to get there from the parking area by Bear, otherwise you need to drive around the horns to the other side and drive up to the parking area on 14A and ride in from there.

Did HighCountry under go new managment? We used to swing in for lunch alot but that was a few years ago....I know back then meals were real good and the hospitality was great.

Been the same for I think three years now, they have a small menu with good food.
And they are happy to see come through the door :face-icon-small-hap

High country is renovated and is a gorgeous place to stay great people great food and the best snow is on that side of the mountain anyway so you might as well drive that way and stay over there.

i agree. high country is great place. great snow, great people. i come up 14A so its only like 5 miles if that from the parking lot. we eat lunch there almost everytrip to the mountain. otherwise we will ride to bear which is a nce trail ride with spots to dip off of. bear is a much bigger resort, party atmisphere, and cheaper. high country is a smaller resort, you are more one on one with the owners and the lodging is great. a bit more expensive, but better snow and you can easily gain a friendship the guys runnin it. i have stayed at both, cant go wrong with either!

The south side has places also. Deer Haven and the ski lodge up top. And my place in TenSleep- Log Cabin Motel and two homes for rent also.Dont forget this side because of the past owners! There have been inprovements at all places in the big horns! And all i want to do is keep the sport going ! I will never bash any place out here as they all offer different things at different price levels and try to do a good job in diffrerent places. So try to support all the places and keep the green folks at bay who do not understand are sport!! Thanks

Deer Haven Lodge on South side mountain is open now! It is near Meadowlark Lake and Meadowlark Ski Lodge! Fuel, new lodging, food, bar and sled rentals are available.. 307 366-2424! Give them a try and bring that side of the mountain back alive.. The new owners are doing a great job!
