Piston Wash

I had my oil pump arm adjusted this summer to stock settings per the IQ tech tips on here and once the snow flys (hopefully soon!!!) would like to do some various speed runs and check plug color/piston wash to see how she's running. I have no idea what a normal piston wash should look like so if anyone could help me out with a pic or description that would be great! Thanks

Remember adjusting your oil pump arm will not change piston wash. Piston wash is how much fuel you are running through the engine. You should see four clean spots on the pistons in the four corners due to the fuel coming in through the transfer ports. The spots should be at least 1/4 inches around in my opinion, some people run them leaner and some richer its all up to how close you want to chance burning it down. The more fuel you have the bigger the wash and the less fuel the smaller.

Thanks for the info:) I was under the assumption that the amount of carbon build up on the piston/spark plugs had something to do with the amount of oil burning with the fuel. So the only real way to tell how much oil is being consumed is by tracking amount added per tank of fuel?
