Piston to cylinder clearance question

Is the OEM piston to cylinder clearance spec radial or diametrical?

The spec is for the gap. So, radial.

The "gap" would be diametrical. As in, difference between piston O.D. to cylinder I.D.

Reason I'm asking is because a diametrical clearance is double that of a radial clearance. Just trying to learn these engines up.....
