Piston scoring 08 700?

I pulled my Y pipe off to replace the laeky gasket and gave the old pistons a look. Looks like some rubbing and on both pistons about at the same area there is a very small scratch. I have read on here that there will always be some scoring to the pistons and its very lite. The scratch is so small I can hardly feel it at all but its there. Question is something to worry about and what might cause this and are the cylinder walls going to look the same. I just dont have the time and money now to do this rite now but if it has to be done im willing to take donations to help the process:becky::becky::becky::becky:. Yes there is a few miles on it like 2700 and its a 2008 700 rmk. i was hoping to get one more year before i dig in deep. Thanks for any input.

scoring

I installed a new top end on my 08 700 last season. I had more than a a few small scratches, although it was difficult to pin point. SLP told me it was likely snow ingestion. It makes sense since the Dragons definitely do that especially through the headlight gaps and so forth.

More than likely you will have a scratch on the cylinder wall but they are a little tougher though. How much did your compression drop? Are the cylinders the same compression? If they are and it didn't drop more than 10psi from new, I wouldn't worry about it all that much. You can throw a new top end in there and a hone for about $300.00 if your worried. It takes 2 hours to get it apart and a little longer to get it back together if you're slow like me.

The reason you have scuffs and scratches is most likely because your airbox isn't sealed??? When mine was stock, I had the same problems. Yank the airbox and look at all the grime in the bottom as well as your throttle bodies. Sealed up its always clean.

Just got my dragon 700 with about 1700 miles on it and the pistons had some small scatches on them as well... One side looked a little worse if i remember right... I sealed my airbox with gorilla tape, cleaned throttle bodies and the airbox and put new throttle body boots on... Hopefully this will keep anything from getting in the engine now. I am going to do something with the headlight adjuster and try to seal up the headlight better. If you are worried about lubrication, adding a little oil to the gas never hurt.

Ya i was actually thinking of ading oil to the tank but I also sealed up the airbox ha about 3/8 inch gap at the bottom. Also what do people use to seal the headlight adjuster other than tape

get the vent kit from slp. its a vent that goes over the headlight adjuster. It has a push tab that u will need to drill a hole for it to go into then it comes with Velcro to put down around the adjuster. this way its covered at all times then you pull the Velcro back and you can still use the adjuster. I just put 1 on my 06 rmk 600. it works good and keeps the crap out

x2 on that ^^^... the slp kits works great and being able to adjust the headlight is a plus
