Hi.

Doing a piston exchange on my 2007 1000. Not anything wrong, but it has 4200 miles on it, and I already have some pistons, and it`s summer and I`m bored....

Is there a gasket set from AC for this? Basegasket and O-rings for the head all in one? Part number?

Also, how difficult is it to slide the cylinders on/off a 1000 while the engine is in the sled? I`m guessing pretty thight, but I`ve heard it is doable. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Last ride of the season is already 6 weeks away, 17th of June, deetap with his M8 and my 1000:

I have split the cases and completely rebuilt 2 M1000's. I just replaced the base gaskets while inspecting and reinstalling the o-rings with no trouble. Installing the cylnders is easier with an extra set of hands, but not a must. It's pretty straight forward, you'll be fine. I did strip a base nut on one of the rebuilds however. May consider new ones. Remember to torque the head and base fasteners. Also purge the coolant system.

ive had my cylinders on my 1000 off twice and getting ready for a third time you need to pull the support brace on the drivers side to remove the pto side piston also get a shop vac and remove the lower head bolts by the steering post and shop vac out the coolant before removing the head it helps keep coolant from running into the cylinders id talk to michelle at oregon trail sports about a gasket kit she is the cheapest for parts and shipping.its not to bad ive done 2 m6 2 m7 and my 1000 2 going on 3 times it is a little tight but doeable i have my son slide the cylinders on while i hold the rings in place good luck

Thanks Harf.

Done it on a couple of 700 and 800`s before, but it`s nice to get a confirmation that you can slide the cylinders of a laydown 1000 while the engine is still in the sled.
