pipe wrapping

I am wondering on thoughts of wrapping pipes .....i have been told to do it and not to do it so just wondering what everyone thinks .....i have twin slp pipes with glasspack style stingers on a 98 700 rmk

Wrapping is a good idea IMO as the heat is retained in the pipe and you will get more consistent results .

Full race sleds are a differnt story than something used for recreational riding so keep that in mind when getting advice from racers on this topic.

If you do wrap the pipe, there are a couple of things that you can do to make it easier on you.

1. Get a spray bottle with water filled inside of it.
2. Get a second person to help you.
3. Use stainless mechanics wire unless you want to spend money on the stainless clamps.
4. Before installing the wrap, spray the first few feet of it with the water spray bottle on both sides of the wrap.
5. Over lap about half way for good coverage.
6. Take your time, it's easy to redo if you mess up.
7. Debatable - Let it dry for 24 hours or start the engine and dry the wrap out.
8. Coat the wrap with the sealant spray or bbq paint (I did the bbq paint).
