Pipe sensor failure sideffects

My sensor on my pipe is flashing a code , with a faulty sensor does it cause any performance issues, and can the sensor be serviced or is it junk. Sled is a 2010 bd pg m8

It puts it in safe mode and fattens it way out. Performance will suffer and can't reallly ride it until you replace. It will idle fine but from my experience, it will not run worth a over 1/2 throttle.

You can do 1 of 3 things.
1. Put resistor in and cost bout a buck, some say it works but it did not for me, and then you don't have that safe mode available if something goes wrong.
2. Do a search and some are using a GM sensor, I think you have to do some slicing to make it work. Cost is about $30.
3. By a new sensor from cat for about $110. That is what I did.

Good luck.

I don't remember the AC Delco part # off the top here, but it was for a 2011 GM truck with the duramax. Not sure if the 2012's are the same too or not. I swapped mine out this past summer. Real easy. Just save your factory harness connector off your old one and switch it with the new GM one. Think it was about $25 to my door and works the same. No more codes.

Since this sensor is from gm, I'm wondering if the wires have a right and a wrong way to be wired into the plug, meaning is it polarity sensitive?
