Hey guys I need some info. I am in Pinedale, and am going to be headed to Lava Mountain Lodge on Togwotee in a couple weeks. Mapquest tells me to go through Jackson, and then through Moran Junction, 2 hrs 59 minues. This looks to be the better way to go for miles, but I have heard I would be better off to go down to farson, then up through lander to dubois. I will be traveling at night, in the middle of the night to be exact... what are your opinions? I will be driving my pickup with a open two place and one sled...

Also take it easy over Togwotee Pass if it is Snowing. They keep 126 pretty clear, but I have seen it pretty icy, slow and easy will get you there. The Food at Lava Mtn Lodge is nothing short of amazing.

We come from the other way but every time anywhere near Dubois at night the deer are thick

Ride there

If it were me, I would pack a backpack and ride the sled there. The CD is usually well maintained. The time for the trip would be a little longer, but more interesting and fun. In decent weather, 3 - 4 hours of straight riding, without speeding, will get you there. Also, I agree the food is good and the staff is friendly as well.

Otherwise, in my trips out there I would say go around Togwotee. Just take it easy if the weather is bad. Going south means crossing South Pass and that can be a tester...plus many more miles.

Hope you have a good time.
