BC snowmobile closures

Well according to the BC gov website it is still mt. reynolds, table creek and other areas south that are closed.

From what I am hearing is the closures start in 90 days and will be riding areas over 1400 meters

Nope, no caribou at all...................top of petersons hill in Hassler. was 4 of em. 1 had a radio collar on.

I was at the sled show in Edmonton and talked to the Ministry of Environment and asked if they have any new closures coming up. He said there wasn't any new closures since 08 and none are happening in the Pine Pass area. Guess time will tell...I also plan on buying a sled pass from the club.

Trying to make it to the meeting tomorrow. See if work gets in the way.
I want to put in a small presentation on the efforts of the North Rockies CAC Fundraising Committee. Successes to date, fundraising plans for 2013, and a very exciting announcement scheduled for the 1st week of December in Dawson Creek.

Just to let everyone know there are no closures happening at this time. Our area is considered a low risk area. Everyone should google "The Draft Peace Northern Caribou Plan" and you can educate yourself about proposed plans in the future. We have emailed Matt Austin who is the project director and spoke to Tim Bennet who is the district forest recreation officer, and have confirmed NO CLOSURES. We still need to support our local clubs so we have the numbers to be a voice in this when it does become an issue with closures. The Dawson Creek club is having a meeting at the club house at 7 on Nov 13, hopefully we can start packing the place, tell as many people as possible!

Good to know

I could make meetings in Dawson. Its not the drive it is to Chetwynd. Count me in.

I officially bought my membership today. Hopefully my small contribution will add to a pile of support to slow this possible future proposal down.
