Pilots Peak 2 Lowman - Backroads only?

Anyone ever make the trek from Pilots Peak to Lowman on back roads only? I tried a month ago in our Ranger but ended up having to back track and take highway 21. Anyone know of a good route? I ended up down by a couple of mines....golden circle I think. Anyway, has to be an easier way I think.
