Pictures of Great White Shark Cage Diving Isla Guadalupe - October 2011

I just spent the last seven days cage diving off of Isla Guadalupe. Island is located 220 miles off of San Diego in Mexican waters.

Those are awesome pictures.

My son and I watched a show last summer on NatGeo about a crew that bought a crab boat and took it down there to tag and track those big things.

They would catch the shark, reel it in and land it on a big deck they'd put underwater, slowly lifting it up above water so they could work on it.

Called Expedition Great White. It was a GREAT SHOW.
That must have been a pilot series for it because it was about 7 weeks long and then it ended. I see it came BACK this summer under a new name called Shark Men or something like that.

That's awesome. Do you have any more details on that? I'm going down to San Diego in a few months, and would love to do something like that. How much did it cost, how far in advance did you have to sign up?

Man that is awesome looking at it from my desk. That had to be a rush! Every time we go snorkel I am always keeping an eye out for tigers. I wouldn't mind seeing a little reef shark...but anything bigger and I'll be walkin' on water!

I booked in August and got one of the last spots on this trip. It was a 6 day trip on the Islander for me. Took about 22 hours to get to Isla Guadalupe from San Diego though Port Ensenadia in Mexico. Season for around there is Late August through Mid October. Some trips go in November, but the later it is, the rougher the water is.

If you are in San Diego, you might be able to get a day trip out to one of the local islands. But results I have heard is varied.

If you are serious about it, let me know and I will get you the information on the 2012 trips.

Nice! I do allot of Diving here in Hawaii. Have had some nice greetings with Tiger's. But not a GW. Would like to be in a cage for those guys, Nice!

No, he was eating a tuna head they tossed out.

They keep it tied to a float and a line to keep it on top of the water and close to the cages.

Yea, I would say diving the tail race or dam face with these guys would be a bit exciting....
