So picked up a new liquid polycarbonate hood for my edge. Nice piece. Got everything swapped over but the front vents. The oem polaris vents won't work with it. Well they could but it would look terrible and be jerry rigged like hell. They sent me some venting mesh. About the quality of your normal screen door. The instructions for it say to glue it on. If I glue this material on, it will look like crap (also has to be over-cut). The hood is clear so you see all your flaws on installation. Hardware won't work on this material IMO. I'm worried this screen material won't hold up to my abuse.
What I basically want to know from you all is, are the front vents even all that necessary? Looks as even if the snow was to go through the front facing vent areas, it would only hit the pipe at most and drop or melt into that front cubby in the nose of the sled and not the clutch/belt/engine area. I had my big front vent missing the last few rides on my old hood and didn't notice really any more snow ingestion... Shoot, the rear facing vents don't even have snow ingestion venting material on them stock!
Anyone else around here with a clear hood or any other aftermarket hood for that matter? How did you vent?
