pic of the 2012 pro in my garage already

It will be interesting if Poo cleaned up the wiring harness screwups and hose routings on the 2012's.

Yes... the main and ignition harness' are jacketed with a bit more abrasion resistance and installed slightly differnet.... there are some supplemental chaffe guards as well.

Would be from Neils Power Pipes in Edmonton. Neil builds top notch stuff. Can build it as light/heavy or loud/quiet as you want. The guy is a custom pipe builder to so you know it is going to be sized right so you dont lose any power either.

Neil does build VERY high quality exhausts.

The 2012's run a Different Y-pipe and silencer than the MY 2011's... the Pipe is the same. The cylinder and ECU flash are different but I cannot speculate as to the effect of those changes.

The Pro RMK, with its DC-CFI-2 engine fuel/ignition management, is very sensitive to any changes in backpressure, not only related to power... but also to useability, reliability and engine life.

The "old days" of opening up an exhaust (dropping back pressure) to try to get more power are plain gone.

Changing the silencer can and often does void your engine warranty. The engineers designed the exhaust as part of the engine SYSTEM... unless there is a lot of dyno time spent on the development of the can or pipe going onto a sled.. Just not worth installing it IMO...

If the aftermarket silencer you may want to use (AKA Can) does not match the EXACT backpressure of the stock silencer... They better be able to prove that the change has not altered the durability of the motor.

Thanks Mountainhorse!! I am new to poo also if you couldPM me or put on here the wires and stuff I should look at, I have the post from you about picking up the sled and what to do with that, I just dont want wires rubbing and killing it out in the boonies:face-icon-small-fro Thanks!!

MH, thanks for the info. So being as the 2012 has a new y-pipe, can and ecu map would you suggest not putting a can from a 2011 on one?

Thx

You need to look over the entire harness carefully. Some common issues with the 2011's included coil wire rub, harness wire rub behind the center switch pod on the pro, loose ECU connector, Mag cylinder injector wire harness rub at the reed block, poor spark wire connection at plug top, and dangling wires and connectors. I know I forgot some of the common ones. The early builds in July of 2010 were worse. Mine was a later build so I got off easier, they clearly started changing them after the first build. Just some of what I remember finding on my 2011. Love the chassis, but the poo product engineers that put that harness together must have designed Rupp mini-bikes at one time. Compared to doo or yammy, they have lots of room to improve wiring, and it's been this way for years. Good luck.

L800...........you're frickin hilarious man. So now in the garage you have Lisa's Dragon, your 2011 XP all pimped out, a 2011 M8 turbo all pimped out, a 2012 pro that is about to get 10k in retail therapy, and your 2012 M1100T arriving shortly.....................

Must be nice dude.:face-icon-small-ton

funny i sold my xp though so one less, lol but my boy figures he should ride the pro and me keep the m925 turbo for myself. lol

actually neil at npp has done some extensive testing on the cans he builds, he was even on track to make a pipe that was making some real good gains but the owner would not buya fuel controller and the pro runs to lean with a aftermarket pipe to push it. his can alone made 3hp on various runs on his dyno.. trust me neils stuff will not hinder any sled guaranteed. i have ran a can from him for every manufacturer and it never hurt it ever...

Do you have a video of that can from Neil? He is somewhat close and if his R&D takes in to account the factory Polaris mapping and scavenging/back pressure as mentioned he may have another customer.

I ordered the orange to get the black a arms and black rear components on the skid. I checked the black panels and was waiting to see a "real garage" pic. I am pumped as I absolutely love the black and white. I'm really looking forward to a real garage pic of the retro. The retro may be the hottest sled- just tough to tell on the Polaris website.

Will pick up my Retro 163" tomorrow. Can't wait. All the colors look sweet though. Can't wait to saddle up on this thing. Have been a Doo guy the last ten years. Should be a good year. Congrats on your sled!

Dude you have to post pics tomorrow when you get her home!

Went to see it last night after closing (owner was still there) That Retro looks sweet up close. All the colors look great but am glad I went with the retro. Now time to get her home and start tinkering. First POO in 10 years. Really looking forward to the season!:face-icon-small-ton
