Here are some photos from Nobletts parking lot from today. No riding for me, just checking things out. The gate is still closed. Looked a bit marginal to head out from the parking lot. With the pavement showing it doesn't give the snow much of a chance. Should still be plenty of snow up higher. It'll be a lot easier to get to the deeper snow when they open the gate...

We went for a ride out of Nobletts on the 23rd. When we went up, there was about a foot of snow on the road, and by the time we got back, we were having to ride the shouler of the road as the rest of the road was melted down to pavement. The riding isn't too bad, the trail in was horrible though as it hasn't been groomed in who knows how long. Most of the snow bridges across the fast flowing streams had melted as well, and those that hadn't were pretty close to being gone. But once you get up high and let the snow warm up it is still a pretty good ride. Some of the spots we stopped at still had over 6 feet of snow as you get farther back in. Hopefully though in the future they will open the gates and let you park up higher to save the trip in on asphalt.

Dude: thanks for the update.

Gates are still closed on the North slope side too. Pavement as far as the eye can see. And had to ride through a lot of mud stretches to get up Elizabeth.:(

I was up Nobletts on the 26th and the right side of the road had been plowed up past the soapstone turn off.

Whats up with a half plowed road????

Still Lots of snow up higher.

Ron - according to the memo I received today, the No Slope gate will be open at the end of the week

Good to hear. Guess I better bring my ski covers and stash em in the woods.
Thanks for the info.

BTW: How does one get that MEMO? Must have to be somebody important.;)

They did the same thing last year. I guess it's there start to getting the road cleared. Like last year they'll bring in some pretty heavy equipment soon to get the road open all the way over the top, which is good for us so we can get up as high as we want for the late spring / early summer riding ;)

Here's a photo of a ride we took June 16th last year up around Mirror Lake area...

and people wonder why I live in SF...... Fairview babay!

luckly its too far for most Utah sledders otherwise Fairview would be another Monte in crowds and parking issues.

why is the gate closed?? and its a sled trail grommed on top of pavement??

U.S.A it snows down here too;)

Sheriffs hate spending time pulling out idots who try and drive on snow with a passenger vehicle, unlike Canada our trailhead elevation is usually 7-8k Ft above sea level, unlike Canada our riding isn't all straight up and straight down, Major highways traverse most sledding areas and can be accessed in the summer months this way.
