So we are looking at a new Phazer-MTX. I would like to know pros and cons of this sled. I currently ride a 02 800 Summit with some lite mods, I don't much like to highmark so much but rather enjoy boondocking and some hillclimbing. I am looking at this sled because I cant afford a Nitro. And I heard you can boost a Phazer and its a blast. So if I liked the sled that would always be a thought. Please just some honest in site would be helpful...thanks for your time Dino

I have both, a nitro and a phazer. you can't go wrong with either. The phazer feels more like a motor cycle or jet ski. The nitro feels more like a traditional sled.

The phazer will go anywere you want to go. It will not high mark like your 800. It is a blast to ride and I ussually alternate between the two when I ride. The phazer also corners better up or down a trail. It is a bit more tippy than the nitro.

If I could only have one sled it would be the nitro. It is like a diesle pickup it pulls from bottom to top. the phazer feels more like a two stroke. I love the electric start and reverse on both.

I went riding yesterday with two stroke guys that told me not to go with the yammies. We switched off and after one ride on each they were totally impressed. The phazer will out do any sled in its class. The nitro is like a 700 two stroke in power but the power feels much better.

I would buy both sleds again today if I turned back the clock. I would pick the nitro rather than modify the phazer. The seat is more comfortable on the nitro as well.

Both sleds go great in the powder (was in 3 feet) and are a great no hassle machine.

Forget about what others say in the forums. Yamaha has it perfected.

" Forget what others say in the forums" Well yes there seems to be alot of brand loyal persons out there, I am not one. I have rode a boosted apex...I dont have the cahoonies for that type of sled, heck my 02 gets me in more greif ...if I let it ...than I care for. Would like the Nitro but $$$$$ not happening at this time. Thanks for the input. Dino

I have both a modded 2-stroke, and 07 Phazer and an 07 Apex. If it wasn't for the excuse that I bought the Phazer for the kid and Apex for the wife, (I think she got suspicious when I put a turbo on the Apex), I would be riding one of the Yammies, they are each a lot of fun but in different ways. The Phazer is just plain a blast, smooth on the trails, competent in the fluff and hills. No, you're not going to be highmarking everybody, but you are going to have smile on your face. Other pluses: no smoke, good sound, comfortable, dependable, low maintenance, reverse, turn the key start. My only caution is I don't recommend modding the Phazer other than maybe a new muffler. By the time you get it up to 130 hp you could by a Nytro for less money. Would I go back to a 2-stroke, not at this point.

Twist arm harder

Probaly gona doo it , eat crap for a while from my kids but oh well they still think Dad don't know jack. LOL Dino

I say go for it, its a blast and as said above, its still the same feel with power across the board. Your kids might make fun of you until the first ride than the will want to trade snowmobiles :D:beer;

well first off they wont win the world record climbing a hill but it will make it up in a tractor type fashion it will just keep going, sidehilling boondocking jumping it can do it all and is awesome at it. I wouldnt trade mine for any other sled.

well thats fine cuz im not in extreme high marking but i do like to play on the hills and this sounds like it would work real good...

I don't think you can go wrong with the Phazer. It is just a blast to ride. It may not have the "bad a$$" image and h.p. but the fun factor more than makes up for it. I'd suggest looking at an '08 as there has been a few "2nd year" updates.
After not having ridden snowmobiles for more than ten years, I find the Phazer refreshing because of the suspension, four stroke engine (I don't smell like I been cuttin' firewood all day) and reverse. I don't miss tuggin' on the back of that ol' Polaris SP500! There seems to be a fair amount of aftermarket performance stuff for the Phazer, too. Hmm... a bolt on supercharger... I dunno. The only advantage is that it would be a lightweight package. Maybe the Nytro would be a wiser $$ investment? If moola is an issue, get the Phazer, enjoy it and decide later to mod it or move on to something else.
Just my humble .02 worth...

Ok, now you guys are making me rethink my options. For the Phazer...Turbo or Supercharger? How much hp can they make and still retain the yammi dependibility?

You need to ride the Pahzer without boost. If you like the handling, then you can add power through a turbo or S/C. I would also suggest riding a Nytro. I had to choose between the heavier Nytro and less power after both are boosted. I went with lighter. I still have 2 RX-1's and can't seem to give them away. I would get a 07 phazer over new, spend the money fixing the "real problems" like front shocks, tunnel icing and skis. None of those are upgraded in 08. Remember, the Nytro is $3000 more, so it should be ALOT more of a sled stock. But after boost, it's your choice. Either one will rip!!

How much do you want for the RX1 what is all done to them ?
My Girlfriend used to just love the RX1 Super lightweight mod ( before turbo) She loved the reverse and key start and would go anywhere with the beast. So she then wanted a Phazer ---- fast forward----- now there is not enough power and she rather have the RX1 but I am not about to give up my turbo.
What to do ----- do you want to do a swap ?

Daughters pissed at me!!!!!

Our daughter is coming home from collage, shes pissed at me for selling her 98 670. She thinks that we will not have a sled for her to ride when she comes home, going to try to pick up the Phazer Fri. Should be dark when I get home...and we are planing on riding Sat so I think she will be surprised to find a new Phazer waiting for her!!!! And if she don't like the Yami she will have to ride the 02 800 OR SIT AT HOME AND POUT. She loves to ride and is very good at it. I cant wait too surprise her, I will try to post a pic or two of her and her mom when done. Dino

Clutching

I have seen some owners are changeing the clutching some and I would like to know why and what they did. Thanks Dino

In vote of the Phazer, they're cheap. There are two on Craigslist here, both are 07s, one with 480 miles the other with around 700 and they are selling for $5300. I think there is a dealer here with a left over 07 for $5900. Can't beat it.
