Phazer repair help! T.O.R.S. ?????

1999 Phazer 500

What makes the T.O.R.S. system (throttle override system)return stay (stick). I have returned it to correct place and it doesnt seem to click into place, or snap. I took it apart, and ordered the broken plastic "caps". Does this hold it? or Is the switch bad?Anyone?

Further explanation; The Thumb Throttle pop out when we added handlebar risers...Now it wont pop in. I can hold it in and the bike runs fine, but it doesnt stay.

by pass it. disconnect the wires at the carb rack and reconnect each set to themselves(carb rack male and female plug together, bar wire male and female plug together.) just make sure the throttle has enough freeplay and a tether is cheap insurance.

I now have shoved a drinking straw in it. Here's to Starbucks! Spacing it to hold the switch "in" and my thinking is that the straw will smash if needed....
I couldnt get the switch out of the casing, I guess they want to sell the whole thing, right. Sure am tired of the price of parts an repairs.

If this doesnt hold up, I will by pass it as you suggested. Again Thanks!

What does this do anyways...Seems to me, the only time it would activate is when the throttle cable is yarded on, right? What would make this happen???

(Other then when we disconnected the handlebars to add a 3" lift and pulled it to hard....)
