PGT M8 rising rate fuel pressure regulator -WTF?

I get more boost= more fuel pressure, but it doesn't all add up here.

On my BD kit, I have a 45 cent copper cap with threads tapped into it that I am supposed to press on my stock regulator and attach a 1/8" poly line all the way to the charge box.

Can someone explain how this works? Is there a better way to do this? Is this reliable? Maybe this is a stupid concern, but putting plumbing parts on my $14K turbo sled seems a bit cheezy to me.

Thanks!

easy buy a regulator. lot's of different brands out there to go with. I feel the same way as you about the reg mod that we have to do, but it works. push turbo uses a BDX reg in his kits, aeromotive builds nice regs aswell.

The regulator tap is boost/pressure reference line.
It "converts" the regulator to a 1:1 rising rate.

You can buy a 1:1 r/r in-tank regulator from PUSHTURBO/BDX.
They are $200, OR, you can do your fitting mod on your stock one according to your BD instructions. OR, you could do an external regulator, like a $100 bosch.

Simply put, once installed, the regulator cap turns your stock fuel pressure regulator into a 1:1 rising rate regulator. This inexpensive copper cap eliminates the need to, plug the stock fuel pressure regulator, install and mount a costly aftermarket regulator outside the tank, and route a return hose back to the tank. Yes this system has been test proven. The only week point in this system was the rubber hose that was hard to install on last year’s design, but as you pointed out the current system utilizes a 1/8th” poly line with easy to use push-to-connect fittings.

Thanks for the info.

It sounds like it works just fine (which I always assumed). My question is is there a better way? As this comes together I am less and less concerned about pinching pennies and more concerned about ultimate reliability and the "right" way to do it.

I am still fuzzy as to how the cap converts a non rising rate regulator to a rising one. I.E. the mechanics of it.

Thanks.

boost pressure from your boost hose that goes to your regulator will increase in pressure as your boost rises hence pushes on the back of the intank regulator diaphram causing the spring in the regulator not to release pressure or fuel. im sure you get the picture now. it works fine this way.

cheezy!!!!!!! Over 5000 dollar turbo kit and doesnt come with a regulator. Oh i guess it does, a cheap one! Did you see that reg discounted on your turbo price? Point is they are making the kit in a cheap way and not passing the cut to you! Lame! I would run a 1:1 bosh or something besides the cheezy regulator!!!!!!

just get it on there right, had one blow off last year. It would start to go and then die and fuel would be running out the intake (when gas tank was full) The real stupid thing was the line had been zip tied on, amazing it lasted as long as it did.

what regulater is the one cutler sells there intank ajustable is theres a rising rate as well the reason im asking is i bought one used for my 1000 then sold the sled and might not need it
