periodic track trimming

on the pw track on my 2010 had some rough edges that werent trimmed by the manafactuer and was causing the track nylon cords to fray on the edges, so I took a hooked razor and trimmed the excess rubber , then took a plumbers torch and singed all of the nylon cords back, there was even some fraying where the sprocket grabs the belt , I burned all of that back, the track looks good now. I was worried that some of the longer cords could get caught and ripped out and dammaging the belt. on my buddies new polairs dragon the track excess was trimmed by whoever made it. this is just something I did while doing maintence. my 2002 is doing the same thing but not as bad, it was factory trimmed too. the utrimmed part of my track had frays 1 to 1 1/2 inches long in some places, prolly 3 or 4 on each side that long. anyhoo it looks good now and I am going riding now.-m-

This seems to be a common problem on the PC tracks. I just burn them off after every ride. Mine was also making contact on some rivets inside the tunnel when the suspension compressed causing the track to fray. Take a look.

I had to burn the frays off mine a couple times. I thought it was because I was practicing side hilling in the front yard too much with too little snow.
