Passing on a trail

To access my favorite riding area, you have to travel over quite a few miles on a pretty bumpy trail for the most part. I take my 2 kids as often as I can. Everytime I leave to get on the trail, I remind them to stay on the right and be aware of passing sledders. My kid rides a little 340, they only go so fast, especially on bumpy trails. He's had the sh** scared out of him more than once. All I ask is give some consideration to who you may be passing and the experience they may or may not have. Then proceed with caution, hopefully making them aware before you pass. Just my 2 cents.

Trail rage???

Ok so since I have not made this clear enough for people I will try again. A freind and I were going down a trail at about 60 mph single file. We had just gone around a curve and I decided I would open my sled up on a straight stretch that was about a mile long. My freind was riding one of my sleds and this was his third time out on a sled. I looked behind me and saw noone coming. I pulled out to the left quite far, as this is a wide trail, I did not want to be to close to my freind as he is new to riding. I moved up along side him fairly slowly as I wanted to be sure he knew I was there and I did not startle him. I was just in the process of accelerating hard after my freind looked over and I knew he saw me when this guy blows by me on the left. There probably was only about 5 feet between me and the snowbank on the left I do not know for sure and I am sure some of you would have wanted me to get my tape measure out to measure it. Sorry but I left it at home. Yea it did scare me enough that I slowed down and pulled back in behind my freind and collected my self and I then did make the pass and followed the guy to the parking lot. All this took place from approximatly 2:56:30 and 3:02:27 p.m. on 03 02 08. Man I cannot beleive that there was so much read into a simple post. I hope this is a detailed enough explanation to what happened. I will put it in writing and have it Notorized. In my veiw I still say it was not a safe pass and judging by some of the replies on here it is a sad example of what our sport is turning into. My rant is over now

Sounds like a bad pass but your response of running him off the trail is pretty dumb to..someone could get killed! Road rage much?

I say let people pass as they wish, but if you are the one doing the passing give it a minute or two to study how the rider is riding etc. That way you can make a good decesion on how and when to go by.

For those of you that have mirrors or turn around and see the person is not part of your group, move over it's apparent your group has either had trouble or is riding slower then the oncoming rider/group.
