I have a 2005 M7 141 that recently went for an epic end over end roll down the mountain. Ripped the hood off above the hinges, air box, side panels, and misc slid to the bottom of the hill. Make a long story short, we spun her around, rode it the rest of the way down the hill, zip tied the hood back together, put the air box and misc back on the sled, and rode it for 3 more days. It ran like a top. I love AC sleds.

Off season decision: Part out what is left and get newer M8 or M1000? OR Rebuild what is left intact with 800BB?

I really love the 700EFI cat motor when the power valves pop. I also enjoy the torque of the M1000 motor. I don't like the heavy front end of the 1000. I have never used a fuel controller and I am a little concerned about learning how to use one. These are options that are within my budget.

Thinking about a 2009 M8 with shim kit and SLP exhaust setup.

or RKT 800 kit and powerclaw for my current 05 M7.

or used CPC1000 motor and powerclaw for my 05 M7.

In conclusion: Ideally looking for AC sled with around 175hp and sub 450 pounds.

Opinions?

I've had the cpc1000 motor in my '05 M7 141 for several seasons now and have been very happy with it. It is a BIG power gain over a stock M7 and it will definitely put a huge smile on your face guaranteed. The worst thing about it is that it uses wiseco forged pistons, and unless the motor you're looking at is already broke in, it is a hassle to do. Essentially, you have to baby it for 4 full tanks of gas before you can really ride it hard. If you don't, you will sieze it guaranteed. I have a boondocker box and have gotten use to it, but I wouldn't recommend it over some of the other boxes out there. The problem with it, is that it has too much adjustability to make the regular joe like me get it tuned to precision very easily. I believe there are other boxes out there that are a lot more user friendly.

I'm running RS 800 big bore and really like the power - way more than stock 700. It has also booney box but no need to hassle with it. Pal has M8 153 SP -10 and it has better seat and adjustable steering post also rocks but those can be put into older ones. Reverse is the only reason to get new M8. If you don't need it, I'd build some light weight 800cc monster from M7. Ofcourse this way needs more work. Don't be afraid of fuel box - they are easy.

CPC 1000 would be awesome but breaking in seems to be pita. I'd like to run one but it's very rare at this side of ocean.

The wrist pin diameter is different, so the M1000 pistons won't go on an M7 connecting rod.

hell if some one could build a BB that uses stock 1000 pistons that would be nice ,, although i have had no issues with my 91.5 wiscos i did baby it breaking in and make sure its really hot before i ride
