Part my M out or put it back together?

Should I part my 2009 M8 out or put it back together and run it?

Ok, so I decided I was tired of messing with the turbo on my M8, even as good as it ran ... so I sold the turbo kit off it several months ago.

Now I'm faced with the dilemma of trying to put it back together "stock" or just parting it out and selling it. Its already mostly torn apart in my garage, motor out, etc .... Motor has ~3600 miles on it, maybe 1,000 on the current top end, so I think I could probably put it back together and get at least another season out of it the way it is ...

But the problem is, now I have to plug the fuel tank, the tunnel where the exhaust was, find a stock pipe and air intake plenum, and buy another million little peices .... and if i already have the motor out, its very tempting to just put a fresh top end in it .... but alas, this is a 5 year old sled right now, so is it really worth spending ~$1000 on to get running again? IDK ...

What should I do, part it out or put it back together and have a backup sled?

Say its worth $4k running. Means you get $3k net out of it.
Parting it out means more wrenching anyway so call it a wash on labor.
Are the parts worth more than $3k and hours spent selling all the parts?

i just got $6500 for my '10 m8. granted it had alot of extras and only 1300 miles on it and lot of new parts. but since its apart i dont know, how much is your time worth?

Way more than the sled is right now ....

Thats kind of what I'm getting at .... Its gonna take me a few weeks to round up parts and get it back together, I can probably have most of it sold off by then.

Should of sold it a turbo sled, now its a X turbo sled.....part it out I guess

Part it out. If it was the HO 800 I would say ride it again but IMO the 09's weren't all that much fun to ride without boost. The good thing is that you have the newer 09+ tunnel etc so it will be a better money maker in terms of parts. Assuming your hood and body panels are all in good shape you should have a good 4-5k in parts there. You'd be well on your way to a nice 10-11 m8 if that's the route you're thinking about.

From the looks of your signature line you still have a nice sled to ride in the PRO. So guessing the M would be a back up or guest sled if you put in back into running condition.

If you put it back together you know exactly what condition it is in vs buying a used sled elsewhere.

If you part it out it and want good value it will require a boat load of time marketing the parts.

HMMM....tough call. I would probably put it back in service.
