paper wasps

What do you guys do to control them before they become a problem? I just spray them as I see the nests. I was out moving the patio furniture and such around and had my head right next to a next under the eave on the shed and they stung me. It was all out war after that. Got the nests, then later on turned into an aerial assault. They have calmed down now that it is cooler and dark out. Those stupid yellow traps don't work, I have had one up and stocked since April. What can I do to deter them?

BTW...Commercial grade Sprectracide wasp and hornet killer is awesome. Drops them immediatly if you get a good shot.

I here they like BBQ's. You're doomed, and yes those yellow traps suck azz.
No help here. Just keep spraying.:face-icon-small-win

Catch them first thing in the morning when its still a litlle cooler out side and nail them with the spray. The cooler it is, the more of them little chits you will find on the nests. I go through cases of the spray at work every summer. I hate them damn things!

My wife likes to go after them with a weed burner, but there are side effects to be aware of.

Best to spray late at night or early am when they are all on the nest

The $1.99 automotive brake cleaner in a can, I have found kills almost any insect instantly. Thats what I use on them. I spray the nest and when they start to scatter, keep spraying drop like crazy.
