painting rails?

I was thinking about taking the rails of my 09 m8 and painting them black. I was just thinking of spraybombong them since I live in a small town with no real powdercoating availible??

I just powder coated my rails and front and rear suspension A arms, it looks awesome and is well work the time and money. I live in Canada and i got it all powder coated for $90 bucks. I looked in to painting them too first and it is not the way too go cracking, peeling, flexing it will not last long if you are going to do it definitly powder coat is the way to go.:beer;

you would have to do hours of prep work to even think about getting paint to stick to machine aluminum, Sanding, scuffing, cleaning and using iodized self etching sealers and a high quality paint, and if you don't know what you are doing and screw up any part of the process you risk flaking let alone paint can be scratched or be flaked off by many different sources. Just take into fact that the time it would take to do the best job of making the paint stick, you could get a minimum wage job and pay for all the powder coating, shipping and have some left in your pocket. Let alone when it gets scratched(because it will) or flakes off you have a sled that looks like a two year old drew your picture with a piece of coal.
