painting plastic

This summer I want to customize my nytro and was wondering if the plastic can be painted. I am thinking about betting the blue plastic parts and having them painted at an autobody shop. I was just wondering if it holds up very well. I do my own powder coating so I was thinking about an orange and black nytro.

I've had plastic body parts painted in the past...the key is the paint. It needs to be flexible. I'm not a painter or paint expert, and dont remember what type of paint was used...only that is wasn't the same as automotive paint.

Get ahold of Yammyboy27 on here or A10 autobody in Sagle, Id. He did Timbersleds paint on their Nytro and if Modsledr got his from Rob, then they did that one too.

Go on Outlaw Motorsports Inc home page. Look at Dustin's Nytro and see what kind crazy things they can do. If you can think or find a patern, it can be done. Im not sure the name of the company that actually does the job, I think they are back east. Cool but pricy.

water dip costs 75cents a square inch you can google it and find some company's im sending apex plastics to texas to get done

Yeah , the parts are paintable just fine , use a plastic parts adhesion promoter on bare plastic , use flex agent in the primer surfacer , sealer , and clearcoat , but no need for it in the basecoat.

I sanded my blue hood and painted it with Krylon Fusion paint and it held up all year.
