painting hood flat black?

Im wanting to paint my hood black. I really like the look of the flat black but I'm wondering how it will hold up to tree branches. If a branch rubs along my hood will there be a streak where it doesn't look "flat black" anymore? I just don't want to spend the money to have someone paint it then a year down the road have a hood with a ton of streaks running down it. I am going to have a professional paint it. Any input/pictures is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Anytime you get a scratch in PAint

it makes a streak, you can have them clear coat the chit out of it, that will help a bunch.

You can add an additive to the clear to make a flat clear coat... Talk about this to a body shop guy and he will probably know this type of product.

PPG makes a pre-flexed flat urethane clear that works well I think the # is DCU-2060 It is used for the flat flares and accent colors on cars. use DCX 61 catalyst . The clear comes in quarts and catalyst is in 8 ounce cans. Put down a black base and 2-3 coats of clear and it should work well for you. I'm sure most other companies have a similar product.

Use plastidip, cheapest option and it's removeable. I have 3 friends that use this stuff on their car wheels and it's last 3 winters and still looks new. Just lay it on nice and thick. Plus if you don't like it it pulls off. Check it out on YouTube.

Flat Black

Pickup truck bed liner spray. Maybe not too smooth but tough as nails and flat black. Sticks like glue to hoods. Can be bought at auto parts store in cans. Crude but effective.

If you have a black hood already, just take some water and a scotch brite pad and go over the hood and make it dull. Cheap and easy.
