Painting a gas can?

I don't know if it is possible or legal, can you paint a gas can? Have you tried it? Here is photo of my setup, and it would look better to have that red can painted black.

Krylon fusion paint, It is working great on my windshield!! Or just get the Mt Addiction setup for you gas cans, they have black cans

You should paint a big weiner on it. That'll get painting gas cans outlawed. As you as you don't paint it with a lighter while sprying and you'll be fine.

I know it is possible to paint the plastic, but I really wanted to know if it is going to last, or just rub off after one ride. I know that some of the decals rub away because of the abrasive snow and ice.
