pop your spring out..pull the belt off and slide the clutch full closed..measure the distance where the spring rides..I bet it is either shimmed wrong or has the wrong cover on it and the spring is coil binding....

KK now that you say that, on the outside cover where the spring sits and in the inside it looks like it been ripped all to he!!, (there like chip marks!!)

But ok, spring is coil binding??

What should the distance be??

I dont know..and dont have a clutch I can measure here at home...I know the stock polaris springs stack solid right about 1.1 inches...

KK ill try giving the guy that built that clutch a call!!
( he sent me a new spring the other day but i haven't got it yet, but i did have just a little bit different spring laying on the bench so i through it in\! worked great till this afternoon in the hills when i started engaging at 3350 rpm and not 4350 rpm)
Any other input guys??

Im not understanding the binding? I can understand the marks due to the broken spring.
enlighten me please, im still running the old p-85s
set too close and it just dosnt shift out, too loose and ? How would either break them?

there are times if someone didnt shim the clutch right that the clutch can travel farther then it should(at full shift out)..if the sheive moves much farther then stock the spring can actually coil bindand if it slams open hard enough the spring coil binds so hard it breaks(no coil spring likes coil bind and will eventually break , just depends on how hard its binding)a good example is valve springs on a high performance 4 stroke...if they coil bind at even 8000 rpm the springs will fail in seconds....

Check the jam nut to make sure that it doesn't have any sharp edges especially where the half moon spots are cut out of it for the tool to grab it. The spring will move up and down across those sharp edges and will break the spring.

How would i check that?????????

With a dial indicator.
Another thought....who did the taper-bore on the P-85? I have seen and heard of alot of problems with this, especially if it was done at Kinetic. Had one blow up on me and do about $2000 in damage.
The bore was not correct and it wobbled a bit on the crank, went through primary springs every few rides. Pull your retaining bolt and install a puller....if it comes off real easy the taper is bad. Or if you put the clutch on the crank and it slides on and off real easy or has ANY wobble, it is bad.
