Overall Yamaha quality???

I am thinking about giving up on the other 3 manufactures (sick of their quality issues) and converting over to a YAMAHA Nytro MTX (even though it is heavier). I just want to ride day after day without having to repair after each ride. If I did go over to Yamaha, my intent would be to leave it nearly bone stock (no major mods).

I know that the Yamaha 4-stroke motors are rock solid and headache free.

So the questions that I have......Is the rest of the snowmobile that much more reliable and durable than the other manufacturers? (I don't mind a little extra weight if it means extra durability)

Also, how well does the new stock Nytro MTX handle the technical riding through the trees?

Thanks for the feedback.

They are heavier because they are built for durability. I havent had any issues at all with mine. I have not ridden the new Nytro or any Nytro for that matter but guys are saying they are awesome boondockin technical riding machines. Yamaha continues to push forward and make improvements the 2010 is a big improvement over the 2009. Generally I would say you would be really happy making the switch as long as your not totally focused on putting the highest mark on the hill in stock form. Im glad I made the switch.

the guys riding the 2010 as a stocker are very happy.

I am continually impressed with the reliability of my nytro. Ive got over 5500km on mine with no troubles and ive been turbo'd from day one. cant imaging how long it would last as a stocker!!

You can really tell the qualitly when you go to work on the sled. Ive never work on a sled so nice, every bolt on the sled cracks really hard then will turn out the rest of the way with your fingers. To me thats a sign of quality machining right down to the bolts that hold it together!!

Good luck!

The chassis are strong for sure. They are almost overkill in certain areas.
Technical riding through the trees is where they shine. Had a 2010 162 out with a 2010 155 700 RMK doing a little comparo this weekend. I was expecting the RMK to be much eisier to mauver in the tight stuff but the Nytro held its own. They were very close. If they would have been sporting the same track I think the Nytro would be the better of the two.
When it came to going straight up the Nytro would walk off and leave the RMK even with the crappy Maverick track. The RMK definately had the better track of the two. The new Maverick is not much better than the old one. That is one issue Yamaha needs to address for 2011.

hey Randy do you have a link to that vid? I saw the one of you going over the Nytro at the show but couldn't find the one of it on the snow.

liard, you have 5500miles on your nytro with turbo???!!!!

I am not impressed with the quality of my nytro mtx.
In 3300km i have blown 4 belts, changed all the ****y plastic bushings and balljoints in the frontend twice. Changed one lower a-arm, one subframe, allthou never hit anything hard. One rearsuspension frontshock, a seat skin and those plastic fasteners and the hood quickfasteners that just disapears all the time. Oh and the oil tank bursted the other day just from a little ice buildup and in sweden its a pretty expensive part. Probably forgot to mention
a few things.
My sled before this one ran almost 4 times as long with very little repairs to it.
Arctic cat mountaincat 800 btw.

Pardon my bad language im a stupid swede:D

For the very same reasons you listed, I choose to buy 3 new Yamahas this season for myself and my family.

While I do NOT have any substancial amount of miles on them, I have had NO initial troubles with them at all. Thus far they have behaved themselves quite nicely.

Last weekend I had a big smile on my face as we had to turn the ride because the 2 strokes in the group had all run out of gas! And this was AFTER they shared their 2 gallon extra cans.
