Out with Doo in with Poo

Made the jump today. Snow checked 2 pro 163's. One for me and one for the wife. Been riding doo for 13 years and have nothing bad to say about them, just wanted a change. Riding a pro for a while did not hurt though:nod: Couple questions though. I ride from 3-7000' and the dealer said that the stock clutching works well. Is this what most are finding or is there any real gains to be found. He did say that he has geared a couple of them down slightly and really liked the bottom end better.
I plan on running it mostly stock for the first year ( or not ). I know doo clutching very well, but know very little about poo clutching. Any thoughts would be appreciated.Thanks.
Oh yea I guess a new snowest name is in order also.

I made the switch from owning severals XPs to the PRo for this season and Im very happy with my decision. I love my 163. We also sold the wifes XP summit also, and I plan to get another PRO for her for the next season. As far as clutching goes I knew a decent bit about the XP and its clutching. I can tell you this the stock PRO clutching blows away stock XP clutching. I have also rode XPs with Cudneys clutching and it still didnt compare to the stock pro clutching.

You will be very happy with the Pro RMK and the Polaris clutching is very strong and should not need any clutch work done as they are set up real good from the factory. If anything it would be as simple as changing the weights but I doubt you will even have to do that. Pull and go sled.. Congrats

pfft names fine.

i've been on yamaha the last 3 years, now on poo...for now...

maybe i'll try the new cat in a few years?

be, do, and ride what makes you happy. well, thats my goal anyway.

Welcome to Polaris! XP's are great machines too, but I think you will like how well the Pro responds to your commands.

The stock clutching is great. I actually grinded down my weights to fine tune my clutching. I also went to the Team Tied secondary and it does work well. I tried a few different springs in the primary and I have to say I didn't find anything that worked better than stock.

I personally see no reason to get rid of the stock Gripper skis. Some might tell you that they like the Powder Pro's but I think the Grippers work awesome.

This is the first sled I've had that really didn't need anything out of the box. I opted for Exit shocks, Better Boards (nice improvement in snow evacuation), a sweet wrap from ArcticFX and I plan on going with the HPS can.

Have fun with your Pro, I have had a blast on it so far.

I don't think there is much gains to be found in clutching..... they seem to be spot on out of the box.
I am willing to throw some money at it to make it go better but am waiting on more rider input on the Power addiction head and the SLP pipe.

My 163 is 100% stock with venting and it still seems to be the sled that breaks the trail or is the first over a ridge or the first sled that breaks out of a deep bowl.

It just flat out works well.

Agreed, these pros are too easy in medium conditions. I had to ride my sons 05 144 600 poo to have a challenge on a family ride.

I have ridden mine from 2,500 feet to 8,000ft and the stock clutching is great out of the box in those ranges. I didn't check RPM's above 7,000 feet though on pulls so can't comment on that specifically but it has always felt great. If there are gains I would expect they are minor.
