OTG goggles

Does anyone know if either of the 509 goggle will work with glasses? I have searched and even emailed them and have not gotten a answer yet just wondering before I spend that kind of money on them. If they won't work what brand of goggles do you guys run that work well? Money is not really a object if the goggles work as well as the reports on the 509's do.

Hi Cubby

We are Habervision dealers. As far as Habervision goes you have a few options to consider for OTG goggles. We have the Ouzo's which are our OTG specific goggles and the optical insert.

The optical insert is like a pair of glasses without the arms that fit into your glasses. If you choose to go the insert route, after you receive it you take it to your optometrist to be fitted with your prescription. We recommend that you take both the insert and goggle to your optometrist so they can fit the two together properly (it has to do with getting the right geometry between the two). Their is a big long technical reason on the Haber website..lol! Here is a link to a thread I did about the insert with pics:

Anyways as far as OTG goggles Haber does recommend the Ouzo's. That being said though our oldest son wears glasses and fits them into his Highlines just fine. The Highlines and Prima's are both the same fit and finish. He also has an eliminator in his Highlines. It really depends on the size of your glasses frame and goggle frame. Here is a link to a product review of the Ouzo's with an eliminator by a gentleman who wears glasses. Their is also a pic of him with his Ouzo's in an MX helmet so you get an idea of the fit.

As far as different goggles you need to consider a few things first do you want a flash? This is the mirror finish you see on the outside of the goggles and it makes the lenses a bit darker. You can get the flash on all the polarized lenses. The Ouzo's specifically do come both with a flash and without a flash option. The other thing you will need to consider is if you want the optical orange or vermillion lens color. The vermillion is an excellent choice for low light days. It also will not tint the rhodopsins in the back of your eye thereby preserving your night vision if you get caught out after dark. The optical orange is what I ride with, this color is awesome in bright light as well as low light conditions.

The great thing about Haber is that if you are not happy with the fit they will fully refund your money in the first 10 days. Or they will do a product exchange in the first 30 days. You just need to give them a call to get a refund authorization number. They also will work with you they understand that if you buy a goggle in July for sledding you may not actually use it until November.

Hope that helps if not please get a hold of me and I will do my best to get you what you need!

I wear Smith OTG and still have to trim the inside foam lip where my temples meet. Once that is done they work ok. I would think some of these tinted/flashed lenses would do the trick as I don't have px sunglasses for the bright/flat light days.

I just wanted to give you guys a heads up and let you know that Habervision is having a sale this weekend, until Sunday August 8, 2010. You will get 65% off their eliminator goggles when you enter the promo code ELIM65 at checkout. Here is a link to the site with the affinity code already entered for you but you will still need to enter the promo code:

Cubby, I talked to you already, but for others I do recommend that you use an Eliminator anytime you are wearing an insert or glasses. They are not 100% fog-free for the GLASSES, but they help. They are designed to keep the goggles from fogging. I would use a fog treatment/cleaner on your glasses (ONLY!). The goggles already have a treatment on them.

Right now Eiminator combos are on sale, so now is the time. If anyone is in the Colorado area I have demos available. These work great for dirt riding as well, although I recommend the MTX Dirt Goggle (single lense).

You can get a set of FARO goggles WITH Eliminator for $63 right now. That is $2 cheaper than the Eliminator at it's regular price of $65. The Faro makes a great set of backup goggles. They are our non-polarized lenses, and the goggle I use for very low light. I have a few buddies who use them as their primary goggle. In order to get that price you can follow my link:

Then in the checkout process enter COUPON code ELIM65

Sounds like what he and others might need is a combo deal with the Eliminator and the Ouzo for OTG applications.

Any luck?

Anymore I recommend the Eliminator for everyone really. It works that good.

If you wear glasses I would recomend the Optical Insert if you wear glasses all the time. The price is tough to beat at $25. You take them to your local optometrist and have them put lenses in. As Track 2 Treadz said above make sure you take the goggles with you. The pupil distance (measurment) can change a little depending on the goggle and your face. I would also recommend you get the anti-reflective coating, scratch coating which help for fogging with the Glasses/insert.

The Eliminator is designed to prevent fogging of your GOGGLES. Honestly I have rode with glasses and my glasses fogged with the Eliminator (but not my goggles) until I put a no fog treatment/cleaner on my glasses. I don't normally ride with glasses because I wear contacts but have had to a few times.

If you get the insert it will fit in all of our goggles fine. If you go that route I would get the Highline or maybe even the Prima. I personally don't like how the Ouzo seals on MY helmet it could be different for you. Plus the other goggles have a better lense selection.

If you get a goggle and don't like the lenses or the way it seals on your helmet contact me or Habervision and we can get you swapped out for another frame or lense. We will do whatever it takes to make you happy including giving you a FULL refund (within a reasonable amount of time).

IF you wear your own glasses you can get away with most of our goggles depending on the size of your frames. IF you have large frames I do recommend the Ouzo. I was able to ride in my glasses using the Ouzo, Highline and Prima.

I mentioned how I normally wear contacts. I really like the fact that the Eliminator does not run all of the time. Other brands have fans that are always on or always off. Since the HaberVision Eliminator has a humidity sensor built into it, they only run when it is needed. This means the moving air will not dry out your contacts, for those that wear contacts know exactly what I am talking about.

Let me know if you guys need anything else.

Cubby, I believe I answered you back via email, however I didn't mention the option of using a prescription insert. 888rxgoggles.com makes an insert that fits our Sinister model. I know of several riders who use this combo with great success.

As for fan modules, these are a great idea, especially when wearing glasses. The Haber Eliminator is a great product, however it doesn't mount with 509 brand goggles (without jimmy rigging it). So in order to bring this product to our customers and allow it to mount properly we have worked with Haber and produced a 509 private label version of the fan with a customize mounting piece that fits specifically with our goggles. This 509 anti-fan module can be purchased exclusively from 509 & our dealers for $65. Will be released this September.
