Ordered a part from the stealer and I pay shipping? WTF

I can't beleive that I had to pay shipping on a part I ordered for my sled.
What the ##$@ is up with that? Now I have to ask the dealer how much I'll be charged for shipping before I decide to order.
I assumed that they would place/order from warehouse or polaris in bulk or once a week to save on shipping multiple items, not for every little item and pass that cost on to me. It's not a lot of money but so not the point.

I have ordered from a dealer that said your parts will be here in 3 weeks. If you want them earlier than you have to pay shipping. I now go to a different dealer.

That's just wrong. Find a new dealer. I ordered a part just last week and paid no shipping.

My local dealer marks the price up 10 to 20% over suggested retail. I could get the part cheaper over the internet and save the sales tax, BUT by the time I add in shipping from the internet lowballer, I'm often ahead to buy the smaller items from the dealer......

If it was a Polaris dealer he's screwing you. Polaris switched to 2 day shipping from the warehouse a few years back. That's when dealers became completely worthless for stocking parts. The price is supposed to include shipping. I ordered parts last week from a dealer in Utah and no shipping charges so I don't think the Polaris approach has changed.

Find a new dealer.

Being a dealer of different products and industry, this is a huge cost to the dealer and I could see where you could avoid that conversation by charging 10-20 over list. There are times that the part that is ordered has a profit half the cost of shipping, so losing money on a special order. With fuel surcharges by the shippers, the cost of frt has increased to the point where you have to do this.

I would base my purchase on knowledge the dealer provides and pay for that support. Parts are parts and if you don't need em, don't order from them if price is the only factor. But support a good dealer even if they charge you frt, otherwise you won't have a dealer to talk to.....

I have never paid shipping on any of my parts unless I wanted them the next day.I have seen the dealer prices and retail prices on a lot of stuff and i don't think we the consumer should have to pay for shipping if it is coming in on a regular order unless it is something over sized.

I pay shipping all the time but that is from my dealer to me as I live 500 miles from them. And the nearest one I do buy from is still 150 miles away and I'd still have to pay for shipping costs.

Remind your dealer that if you wanted to pay shipping then you might as well quit supporting him and order your parts online for much less money.

I try to support the good ones even though I can get it online for a little less.
I hate seeing the good dealers shutting down or reducing inventory because online sales are really hurting them.

I'd make an exception in your case.

Polaris warehouse is free 3 day ground for any order over $300.00 to the dealer to ship on to customer would be what kind of deal the customer made with the dealer or pick up at the dealer with no shipping cost.Parts I order from the big warehouse's have free freight for any order over $150.00

You shouldn't have to pay shipping if your picking it up at the dealership. Sometimes my dealership will even ship it to me without extra charge if its small stuff. I would inquire why they charged you shipping and then make up your mind about going back depending on their answer.

Canada VS US

I am not sure of the difference but AK and Canadians might get charged for shipping. I know of a 1 dealer that charges shipping to customer in the states and that's because they do not qualify for free freight. I will state this much that we need to do what it takes to cover the over head of operations since we are constantly giving sleds away below cost. I often wonder if some of my customers would change they way they look at things if they had to travel a couple of 100 miles to a dealer. Well I know they would because I have customers that do travel 100's of miles because they have a dealer ship near them that does not take care of them.

So talk to your dealer and if he explains it to you and it makes scene tell him thanks for taking the time and for being their for you.
