For years we have offered local riders a chance to try our Best helmet mounted lights out with the knowledge that once they try it they cant do without it. That has worked out very well.
I am considering expanding this to everyone and also offering some of our sled mounted lights as well.

I know popping for an expensive light is tough for many and they really are not sure if the value is there, So what I have in mind is a try it before you buy it or rental plan.
The thought is to come up with a nominal charge, say 50.00 or so that includes shipping to you.
You would receive a new Solstice HID or penetrator LED light bar. You have a certain amount of time to try it out and see if its for you, at the end of that time period you have either returned the product to us or you have purchased it. We would request full payment for the product and then refund the remaining amount upon return.

A friend who is in a similar biz says I'm nuts to try, But I think it will give riders who otherwise would never try a real performance light system to check it out without the cost of purchase.

So what do you think? Good Idea or a mistake waiting to happen?

How many amps?

What are the lumens?

How is the light beam dispersed? 25 feet 100 feet?

Thank you

Don Brown

Would you do the same for the little 2" pod light? I'm interested but kind of on the fence. I want to drill and tap in the middle of my risers and put a cross bar for a light mount.

What light are you interested in Don?
Lumens are a really bad way to rate a light, although we all do it, mostly due to the fact there is not another real good way to convey what a light might do.
Lumen ratings are taken at the of the light source, not taking into any consideration of optics or heat issues that a certain light may have.
When I talk to sledders or dirtbikers I try to state how fast you can ride with any particular light. For instance... is this a 3 or 6 gear light.

I might consider that. Did you see our new Long Range LED in our vendors section?

I haven't seen it unless its the one that mounts ontop and across the risers. I'm trying to mount a light between my risers because I don't want anything in the way of seeing my tach and I will already have three gauges mounted on the handlebars for the turbo set up. I have about 2.75" of clearance between the risers inside to inside when they are as far apart as I can get them.

These look like good lights. Would each light sent out on the "rental" be a new unit or is there a chance it might end up being one that someone else sent back (not that anyone would send it back anyhow)?

I would think that as long as you have a signed credit card authorization stating that you can charge their card if the light is not returned in the time-frame specified, then you should be ok.

Contact your credit card merchant provider and ask them about their policies for something like this. Find out what would happen if the customer kept the light, and you charge their card, and then the customer disputes the charge.

As long as your merchant account provider will back you up, you will be fine. And GET IT IN WRITING!!.

Good Luck.

All these LEDs are lifetime warrantied and are used in mines and commercial applications all across the globe. You will also see them in some of your local sled shops branded by a few of the sled manufactures.
If someone specifically tells me its a rental, then it is poss that we would send a slightly used unit, However we are starting off with all new stock, so right now there are no used units.
If it was a trial for possible purchase it would be a new light.

We always give a SW discount.

The original NXG would fit nicely in between the risers.
The New Long Range LED is 2.25 in the back with the bracket being 2.85 wide at the mounting point,
The lens is 3x3"
If you can mount it slightly forward with the rear tucking between the risers that should work.
Here is a photo

Our thought is to charge for the entire light upfront, then if returned we will credit back funds. Its pretty tough to get a signature from 1500 miles away.
Im not to worried about getting burned, my experience with most powersports enthusiast has always been good. In 10 years we have only been burned twice.
Now there is another segment of light users I would never extend this offer too:jaw: No names mentioned..

Thanks for the info. I may be calling you soon. Have a few things to do first.
