Hi guys - what's ur opinion on using heads with ring knicks in the domes? Ok to do so or will it create strange hot spots? This is on a 700 cfi rmk dragon. Should I just find another head?

Hey guys,
I had a 2001 800 skidoo that had the head all banged up from a burn down, I reused the head after I rebuilt it, worked fine for 5 years, still running great when I sold it.

Obviously the best option would be to replace the damaged head, but if you do decide to use it make sure there are no sharp edges to the damage. Any sharp edges will be the areas that are prone to creating hot spots. If any points or edges are filed down it will be less likely to cause problems.

i purchased a pre update 800 cfi head on here that was supposed to have a couple hundred miles with no damage. when i got it, it was nicked up pretty good. i took some emery cloth to smooth out the pits/edges and then finished it off with a 600 grit wet sand paper. i haven't noticed any i'll effects yet.

Hopefully your not referring to the one i sold you because that thing was perfect.

I would look for a good used head or buy a new one. If motor goes down in the future and it has a damaged head it is just one more thing to confuse on why it went.
