Opinions on 76' F250 Crew Body Swap to ?????

I have a line on a good 1976 F250 Crew Cab 2WD for $1000. I have always loved this body style in Crew Cab. I would like to swap this body onto a newer 4WD frame/running gear. Diesel would be nice but not a deal breaker. I would like to have anti-lock brakes. Don't really like the idea of making the current truck 4wd. I don't mind doing body work. $10,000 budget.

What year and engine combo would be a candidate for a swap?

how much wiring do you want to take on ??

yuck

restore it and upgrade to a TBI ...

I have 1 74 F250 and 1 79 F250 SuperCrab both with 460s ..milage aint great but I run the 79 all of the time

I am looking at doing something unique. I could save for a newer Crew, but this is just for fun. I know everyone won't like or will everyone like the idea I am planning to tackle. But that is the point.

I am just looking to upgrade the chassis to something newer, possibly a diesel engine, and 4wd.

then anything is possible just don't call me over to wire in your 94 short box crewcab :) lol

personally I would find another ford frame of the same wheelbase, with front coil springs.and without a doubt I would swap in a cummins 12 valve for ease of wiring.a ve pump would do but I would try to find a p pumped out of a 94-97 dodge.a 47rh transmission and np 241 tranfercase to top it off...anti lock brakes could probably be done.and since you in iowa I would have the driveshafts done at certified in des moines.

Seems to me the guys on "Trucks" on Spike TV swapped this same body over to a later model Dodge Cummins chassis....search up the Spike TV site....
