Opinions:Intercooler exposed or underhood

The intercoolers low angle coupled with being underhood is not doing anygood for my supercharged apex's intake temps. Any problems with opening up the hood alittle and letting snow sit on the intercooler. Water dripping into engine etc.
Keep in mind i am not trail riding and there is ushually a bunch of snow ontop of the hood. This equals no airflow at all.

Thanks

Good observation!
Open her up and put mesh over the openings, or put on an mesh hood, you do not want snow in the engine compartment.
Put an fan under the IC that sucks air thru it

Using Tapatalk on Android ICS pad.

intercooler help

Yes I am running a mesh hood vent but this actually deflects cooling air. Also a fan is in the works but i need to raise the intercooler about a half inch to clear the front of the frame. This will yield best results but looking for opinions from anyone running stock hood with the stock open vents that let some snow at it.

Anyone?

Only thing with that is snow is a great insulator it will keep the charge temps pretty hot also not letting air flow through. If ya got room a fan is best idea circulates everything under hood.

An air to water inter cooler is really the best option. And even better on a sc setup with the excess heat. You could get one done for probably less than messing with a fan/setup, with better results. IMHO

nytroboost you say snow is a good insulator. That does not make me happy. Seeing as how the nose packs with snow. This is where the Charger resevoir, cooler and filter are. I figured this was helping cool that stuff. Is this correct?
I have a hard time believing that it's detrimental to the charger oil temps. Anyone want to weigh in on that one.
On another note she shut down on me today tossing me twice pretty hard. Anybody had that happen. Just wide open then nothing.
Showed a code 15. TPS

Ah probly nothin detrimental come from high charge temps. But performance will go down dramatically less air entering the engine. The only way to cool charge temps is air movement. Or of course a water to air witch is what I run. But about a 1000$ upgrade. My buddy did a fan from lordco for about a 100$. Not as good but next best thing. You need air movement.

Snow is a very good insulator. A fan will help, but a water to air IC is the best solution. You'll also be able to turn the boost down with cooler intake temps.
