Open trailer theft prevention

Could you simply go riding without the tools all the time? I know you need some essentials but don't you find you have too many in the first place that you don't seem to need? Just wondering as maybe it would be ok to leave the big tool box at home and simply just have a "johnny popper" toolbox in the back of the truck.

Most of the time we are up there for a day on the weekend and head back that night so we could get by with just a few tools, but when you go up for 3 or 4 days you want to be able to fix a sled that breaks down the first day. I see what you are saying though, it would be easy to keep a small set behind the back seat of the truck.

Outa sight is definitely the best plan... An enclosed trailer, a canopy on your truck or even a box cap all cost money, but so does replacing your stuff that some loser made off with. Pay now or pay later...
