Online snowmobile vendors

Do any of them have a Live inventory system?

RevZilla seems to be the only one.( and they really only have Klim )

I'm getting tired of ordering things and finding out its not actually in stock. Never noticed this with Moto stuff.

Not complaining about any one particular it seems to be all of them. And all of them have been great to deal with...it just an annoyance I have noticed.

Im new to the sport so I have been buying things here and there from a bunch of vendors.

PM First Place Parts or Blown Motor. They are 4M sponsors.

Haven't tried blown motor yet but I will.

First place parts lists things they don't have though so they do not have a live inventory system on their web page. )

Im sure they are both great I'm just wondering why none of the snowmobile websites seem to have a live inventory system on their webpage.

We are in the process of adding that. We manually control it now on certain items. I have paid a programmer serveral thousand of dollars to add this. The inventory will be repulled every hour along with in pricing changes from my distributors. This will be updated on the site. Plus going from like some 1400 items on the site to 250,000 plus items. Should be done yet this month. This all comes with great but even improved customer service and a our 10 year history of selling in the snowmobile business. We are a site advertiser. Stay tuned.

Cool, nice yea I saw your TekVest post the other week would have bought it if I had seen it before I got one on amazon.

I just found it strange, all/most the moto industry ( well actually all good online vendors really ) websites have live inventory, and I just have not found a single snowmobile gear site with that yet.

Thanks, We work hard to figure out the best way to spend our money. It is expensive to more in depth you go. We are small and offer good prices and personal customer service to go with it. But we see the need to improve the inventory side of the site and to upload our entire catalog and then some.

I good example of how our inventory will work can be seen here: http://www.gobigparts.com/509-X5-SINISTER-GOGGLES.html

When you select Yellow with Gold Mirror the very bottom color option you will see below the add to cart button that it is out of stock and you can backorder it if you choose. Also give the lead time of 5-7 business days. Then if you select another color that is in stock the message goes away and allows you to order knowing it is in stock.

Let me know what you think.

There really is not gonna be a good way to have a completely accurate inventory system. Knowbody is stocking 200000 parts in their warehouse, most companies like that go through the WPS, Marshall, Parts Unlmited, and Tucker Rocky catalogs and pick and choose what they want to stock and drop ship the rest.. Even Fox, Oakley, GoPro, etc. some of the largest brands out there dont have a perfect real time system. We order product all the time that says its in stock but its not. You mentioned Revzilla, they do not even stock everything. They drop ship a TON of product, there is actually an hour
Long interview with Anthony Bucci, the owner, on how they do this. You may have just gotten lucky with products saying they are available to you. The only real time system that would be out there, which still would not be perfect would be a weight management one. Where when the product was lifted off the shelf it took it out of inventory. Even this would not be fool proof, and lets face it way too costly to do. So while people may say they have inventory correct and accurate because they update their inventory multiple times a week, that still does not mean they are real time. All it takes is ten minutes after companies updating their stock levels to have one dealer buy that said product out, then their work is already null. Like we said, knowbody stocks 200000 sku's, it just doesnt happen in our industry and only 1 or 2 people in the moto world do. So when people say they have accurate inventory they are just trusting their updates.

Also to touch on the comparison with Revzilla. You are never gonn have the systems and setup that the moto world has. Snow sports are just too seasonal and small. A ton of the moto companies make re-orders multiple times a year from china and since their season is year round taking a month to get it from china does not mean much. If Klim, MF, 509 etc has to wait a month in december to get a new order, by the time they get it back in stock and we can update inventory the season is over.

We work super hard to stay on top of things and be as close as we can to accurate but sometimes thats just life with online sales. We have multiple people buy the same product everyday, sometimes within seconds of each other. And it will generally take five minutes to finish a checkout. So while it may have been in stock when u ordered or clicked buy things could change in that five minutes. We are always open to suggestions to better our service though so feel free to bounce questions or comments off of us!

Thanks for the explanation.

Well I don't know how revzilla manages it but if you click on a item in your size it will tell you right there "Out of stock".. you can then either backorder it or request and email when it comes in stock. I understand that it could go out of stock while your clicking on it. ( Edit: and actually my Klim Gloves and shovel were drop shipped directly from Klim, got here way faster than if it had come from NY anyway )

I haven't seen another site that does that.

Lets just say i have been buying everything ( I had nothing so I need all the gear )

I bought stuff from about 4-5 vendors so far. I think all 5 of them did not have something that I ordered.. but it let me check out and pay without mentioning that. One was nice enough to call me and say it wouldn't be there for a month so that one was cancelled.

One of them didn't even bother to tell me it was back ordered I got a package with half my order in it, and it was on the invoice in the package that the other half said back ordered.

Anyway they have all been very helpful via email/phone...so I don't have a real complaint with any of them but it could/should be better!

We have a live feed that is updated every 15 minutes.. If you see the item you want it's in stock ..If not it will not even appear on the site ..

Bingo...

what is a couple days extra anyway when a person likes a supplier..??

I mean if parts are that critical and a person doesn't have abit of leeway (except in mid season unexpected issues) to order for their project or clothing then their leisure sport is truly to dominating to enjoy.

Blown Motor is correct that it will not be 100% accurate and a lot of us do Drop ship a number of products. This is why it is important that we update their inventory file into our site frequently. By doing this we can certainly be fairly close with what we say is available and what is not. Will there be times where someone purchased the inventory before the file update was updated again. Sure but the amount of times that happens should be far and few between at least for our business. This a seasonable, geographical small market for the most part.

We always email our customers on order status as soon as we process it. When the customer processes the order they get an automated receipt but then we we process it we resend a receipt and status of the order. It is important that the customer checks the email that they use to sign in and process the order to get the status update. I see it time and time again where someone may use a junk mail email address and then is very upset that they didn't get the info. Well sent the the info to the email address supplied but many times it never gets checked again.

Buying on the web is huge and very easy and very safe and automated. Because it is so web based we always reply via email 1st. So please check your emails using the correct email address. Michelle goes to great lengths to answer emails and update customers on their order status. And anyone can feel free to call us at anytime as well.

This is just a tip to maybe help some on their status in case something is out of stock. Hopefully our website inventory updates will be up and running by the end of the month. We are in the test phase right now making sure all the products get uploaded to the correct categories and all information is correct.
