One sled on deck?

Searched, did not find the answer.

Need to put one sled on my deck for ~15 miles. My deck does have a "center" mount, but if I use it, I'll have to expand the deck when I get there to pick up the second sled, move the first over, etc.

Anything to look out for if I just expand the deck and put one sled on for short distances? I'd not THINK it is a bad idea, would certainly use the "center" mount (it is not really in the center, about 1' farther inboard) for longer single-sled trips.

?

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with using some heavy duty truck ratchet straps to hold it down. When a single strap can hold 3 of the sled then i think they're safe, as long as you have solid tie downs.

Thanks! Yeah, the deck is solidly mounted to the truck - just wondering if hanging 700# off the passenger side/nothing d-side is somehow bad. I can't think of why it would be, I'll take it easy on left hand sweepers, shrug, should be fine, would just like to hear from people who have done it/have had problems.

Thanks again!

Why not just put the sled in the center and strap it down with straps?

I have ran a sled deck with one sled on one side. Felt a little tippy when making the turns away from the side with the sled on it. Having air bags on the trucks rear suspension makes a world of difference.

I have only ever done that once... in town, and drove really slow on the corners... Other than that I have always been too nervous to have one single off-center up that high, and it only takes a minute to move it over.

Easiest way I have found to move one over is to move the front, then get on the ground and lift the track over from underneath.

Just make sure you think your route out in advance. You know...so if you are going to turn left the majority of the time, make sure the sled is on the left side! :bounce:

good idea!

I think I'll suck it up and do the right thing - take my center superclamp hook out tomorrow, space it up a bit (skis are too thick, hook can't reach the anchor), put it in the middle, then when I pick up the second sled, tilt it on its side, slide deck out, shift front, shift rear, done.

Thanks for the help - sounds like it can be done if needed. That's what I needed to know.

I drove around all the time in my cummins with my heavy proclimb on the drivers side of my sled bed never felt I had an issue

Mission Deck

I have a Mission Deck and always have my sled on the passenger side. Deck extended on P-Side. Never once have worried about it falling off. I am no means a slow driver either. JMHO, there is no need to be concerned.

Yah, no reason to be concerned is correct. Wound up putting it in the "middle" spot (Silverlake deck, has a hook closer to the middle for one sled/don't have to expand), then, after we were done, I just left the deck extended/one sled on, shrug, no problem.

Thanks!
